Springtime in Florida means perfect weather for outdoor adventures. Take advantage of the sunshine and hit up some of Gainesville’s best nature spots:
- Devil’s Millhopper Geological State Park (picture above) – This massive sinkhole is a must-visit. A short hike down its 120-foot-deep staircase will lead you into a lush, miniature rainforest filled with waterfalls and unique vegetation.
- Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park – Whether you want to go for a scenic hike, spot wild horses and bison, or simply take in the breathtaking views, Paynes Prairie is a great way to reconnect with nature.

2. Enjoy Gainesville’s Food Scene Without the Wait
One of the best perks of staying in town for Spring Break? The usually packed restaurants are much easier to get into! Here are a few must-visit spots:
- Satchel’s Pizza – A hotspot, Satchel’s is the perfect place to grab a delicious slice and explore the awesome art-filled atmosphere.
- Leonardo’s Pizza – Feeling deep dish? Leonardo’s is a Gainesville staple, known for the best deep dish and garlic knots in town.
- The Top – Known for its gourmet burgers and cool vibes, The Top is usually packed, but Spring Break gives you a rare chance to grab a table with ease.
- Embers Wood Grill – If you’re feeling fancy, treat yourself to one of the best steaks in town at this upscale but welcoming spot.
- Alpin Bistro – A cozy European-style café that serves up incredible charcuterie boards, coffee, and wine, perfect for a laid-back afternoon.
3. Take a Leisurely Scooter Ride Through Campus and Beyond
With fewer cars on the road and a calmer atmosphere, Spring Break is the perfect time to cruise around town on your scooter. Explore the University of Florida campus, ride through downtown Gainesville, or take a scenic trip around Depot Park. If your scooter needs a tune-up before your rides, swing by New Scooters 4 Less for a quick check-up!
4. Visit Gainesville’s Hidden Gems
Now’s the time to check out some lesser-known but awesome spots in town:
