FAQs for Used Scooter Sellers: Buyback

What is a buyback?

It’s exactly what it sounds like and how most people prefer to sell their scooters. If we can agree on a price, we will simply write you a check, and you will sign ownership of your scooter over to us!

Why should I sell my scooter to NS4L?

We remove the stress of selling your scooter! You don’t have to deal with taking pictures, listing it online, and meeting up with strangers. Plus, you support your hometown dealership by allowing us to buy your scooter and then later sell it for a little profit. You help us stay in business!

How quickly can I sell my scooter to you?

As long as you have everything you need to sell your scooter, the process is pretty quick! Sometimes, even the same day!

  1. Email us pictures of your scooter and a picture of your odometer to sales@NS4L.com (or text them to (352) 336-1271).
  2. Wait for our response. We will respond and negotiate a buyback price range with you.
  3. If we are agreeable on the price range, we will send you a link to schedule your buyback appointment. In this buyback appointment, we will look over the scooter thoroughly and make a more solid offer price.
  4. You sign your scooter over to us.
  5. We write you a check (or pay you via Venmo)!
How does NS4L determine the buyback offer?

Several variables impact our buyback offer. These are a few of those variables:

  • Make
  • Model
  • Mileage
  • Year
  • Condition
  • Supply / Demand
    • For example, if we have 20 Lavender Buddy scooters, we really don’t need another, so our offer would be low based on our huge supply.
  • Economic Factors
    • One year we couldn’t get new scooters because the supply chain was messed up. We might pay more in these circumstances.
  • Cash flow
    • NS4L is still a small business and we may not be in the cash position to buy your scooter, so we may pass on it or offer to sell it on consignment. However, if you take care of your scooter through our dealership and we have detailed service records, our goal is to be able to buy your scooter back from you.

My scooter does not currently run, will you buy it back?

Unfortunately, no. All scooters have to be operable because we will resell them one day. If your scooter is not operable, the best thing to do is to have it serviced with us so we can see what is wrong with your scooter. We can then make you an offer and deduct the repairs from that offer.

Can I sell you my scooter to you for parts?

No. We are only interested in buying your scooter if it is resellable and reliable for the future owner.

If I buy a new scooter from NS4L, will you guarantee a buyback?

Unfortunately, no. There are way too many variables that could impact whether or not we are in a position to buy your scooter back, so we could never guarantee a buyback. However, we would appreciate the first opportunity to make you an offer, so definitely contact us first!

How long are your buyback offers good for?

If we make you an offer on your scooter, it is usually good for 7 days. For this reason, you should only contact us when you are ready to sell your scooter. Don’t contact us 2 months ahead of time because our offer will likely not be the same.

I don't have the title to my scooter. What do I need to do?
  1. Check to see whether or not your title is electronic.
    1. If it is electronic, we do NOT need you to get a paper title. We can transfer it electronically.
    2. If it says your title is PAPER, you will need to bring the paper title with you.

If you lost the title, you can visit the Alachua County Tax Collector’s Office to retrieve another one.  You will need your driver’s license, scooter information, and the mileage of the scooter.

FAQ for Used Scooter Sellers: Consignment

Why should I sell my scooter with NS4L?

Our dealership, New Scooters 4 Less, has grown into one of the top dealerships in the country! We have the team, resources, expertise, and location to get your scooter in front of those looking to buy a scooter. Let us remove the stress of selling your scooter and let us do it for you!

How do I list a scooter for sale?

Easy! Click here to learn about our two options: Consignment or Buyback!

Follow the steps and then let our team get it done!

How much is my scooter worth?

Many factors impact the value of your scooter. These include the make, model, mileage, and current condition of your scooter.

We can discuss an appropriate range with you. Learn how to sell your scooter with us here!

How long will it take to sell my scooter?

When you list your scooter with us, we will agree on a price range based on its assessed value. From there, our team will work to sell your scooter. It will be listed on this site, social media pages, groups, and third-party applications and placed on our scooter lot at the dealership to sell it as quickly as possible.

Seasonality can have an impact, but we navigate slower times well and will still give it every effort to get your scooter sold.

We will hold onto a scooter for a maximum of 120 days. If it does not sell within that time period, you will be asked to lower the price or pick it up from the dealership.

To date, we have sold 100% of the scooters that have been on consignment with us!

Does NS4L guarantee a sale?

Though we have so many wonderful resources to help get your scooter sold for you, we are unable to guarantee a sale of your scooter. If it is listed with us and your scooter has not sold within 120 days, we will ask you to pick it up from the dealership. With that said, New Scooters 4 Less has sold 100% of the scooters that have been on consignment with us, so our track record is pretty good! cool

Are there any upfront costs?

If you choose to sell your scooter on consignment with us, there will be a $60 up-front administration cost once approved. This covers the labor and cleaners necessary to detail the scooter, inspect all the components, take pictures, add any basic oils, and make any standard adjustments to get it ready for sale.

Every scooter is also required to be fully functional and safe for the new owner. Therefore, if our service team discovers that there are items that need to be serviced before it is sold, those repairs will have to be made prior to listing the scooter for sale at the expense of you, the seller.

I don't have the title to my scooter. What do I need to do?

First, check to see if your title is electronic. If it is, we do not need you to obtain a paper title. We have documents that you can sign that will allow us to sell the scooter and transfer the title electronically.

If the online search above says that you have a paper title, you will either need to find it or obtain a duplicate title from the Alachua County Tax Collector’s Office. You will need your driver’s license, scooter information (it’s best to take your registration with you), and the scooter’s mileage.

Once you have sold my scooter, what happens next?

Once our team has successfully sold your scooter, we will reach out to inform you that your check is in the mail (or we can pay you electronically if you prefer)!

Woohoo!  🙂
